By Jamie Biesiada League to meet Mondays from Nov. 14 to Feb. 27There’s a new bowling league in town, sponsored by the Wall Township Recreation Department. The Wall Recreation Bowling Club, geared for students in grades 5 to 8, will meet on Mondays from Nov. 14 to Feb. 27, from 3:25 to 5:15 p.m. at The Lanes at Sea Girt, 2106 Highway 35 in Wall. This is the first bowling league of its kind in partnership with the recreation department, Recreation Director Edward Grill said. “There has been a lot of demand out there to start up a recreation bowling league,” Mr. Grill said. “We have a nice relation with The Lanes at Sea Girt, from dealing with them from our summer program and Challenger programs [which are geared toward special-needs youth].” The cost for the recreation bowling league is $9 per week, which covers the cost of bowling, shoe rental, a T-shirt, pizza banquet and trophies. “To meet the interests of the parents, we decided to team up with The Lanes at Sea Girt,” Mr. Grill said. Additionally, for every 24 children that compete in the league, the Lanes will donate $1,000 back to the Wall Recreation Department. “We’re really looking forward to this program,” Mr. Grill said. A parent or guardian must provide transportation to The Lanes at Sea Girt, which can be reached at 732-449-4942. Volunteer parent chaperones are appreciated, and adults may bowl at the same rate as students. Students will be divided into teams of 4 or 5, and will then play against one another.
