Resident donates to Wall Day ‘09

Wall Township resident Joseph Penniplede, owner of the Brielle Sports Club, with locations in Brielle and Wall, recently donated $3,000 to the 2009 Wall Fair and fireworks presentation. The event was held on July 3, and featured fireworks, rides and bands, among other attractions.

"Out of his heart, he donated it to the town," Mayor Michael Clayton said. "He’s always been that kind of guy," he continued, citing Mr. Penniplede’s previous donations to the town for scholarships and the like.

"I live in Wall — I like to do community things and help people out," Mr. Penniplede said. "I try to help out as much as I can." Mr. Penniplede also said that he is a supporter of the local fire departments, first aid squads and police.

"In these hard economic times, Mr. Penniplede came forward and made a donation to Wall Township to help out with the fair," Mayor Clayton said. "This year, more than ever with the budget constraints, Wall Township really appreciated the actions of Mr. Penniplede which helped make the Wall Fair a great success."

The Wall Township Committee presented Mr. Penniplede with a proclamation during the fair to recognize his contribution to the community.

"The Wall Township Committee sincerely appreciates the generosity of Mr. Penniplede and the Brielle Sports Clubs for this contribution to the township," Mayor Clayton said. "We were all very taken aback by him doing this in these economic times."

"He stepped up to the plate," Committeeman Jeff Foster said, after the town asked for donations to help make the fair the successful event it was.

"It’s helping the town," Mr. Penniplede stated, summing up his part in Wall Day.
